Ohio Legal Help




Ohio Legal Help provides plain language legal information, interactive self-help tools and connections to local legal and community resources to help Ohioans resolve their legal issues. All content is reviewed by lawyers, to ensure the website is easy to understand, action-oriented and accurate.”

Community Legal Aid




Community Legal Aid is a non-profit law firm serving the legal needs of low-income individuals and families, and seniors with an issue in central northeast Ohio. Do you have a New Civil (not criminal) Legal Problem?



Community Legal Aid's HelpLine – Apply online 24/7 or call at 1-800-998-9454 – Helpline hours are Monday and Wednesday 9:00 to 12:00 and Tuesday and Thursday 1:00 to 4:00.


Self-Help Library – includes information on consumer rights, courts and the legal system, criminal matters (record sealing & expungement), drivers licenses, employment, families and kids, foreclosure, health care, housing, public benefits and disability, seniors, taxes, utilities, veterans, & wills and probate

Akron Bar Association




Attorney Referral Service –The bar association will refer members of the public to an attorney familiar with the area of law he or she needs legal assistance. There is a referral fee of $30 that includes a thirty minute consultation with an attorney. The attorney and the person then work out the fees for any additional services.


Modest Means Referral Program – The program provides reduced-fee, civil legal assistance to low-income Summit County residents who do not have access to Legal Aid or pro bono services and who cannot afford legal fees at market rates. Clients must first be screened by the Community Legal Aid Services.  The attorney rate is $60.00 per hour and covers domestic (post-decree support, post-decree contempt), consumer, and probate law.

Small Entrepreneur and Economic Development (SEED) Clinic


Reentry Clinic - Law students assist low-income clients to help file applications to expunge (seal) their criminal records, obtain Certificates of Qualification for Employment (CQE), and file clemency applications.


Ohio Governor’s Expedited Pardon Project - Law students screen potential pardon candidates to ensure that they meet the project’s requirements. The students also assist the project’s clients with preparing a pardon petition to the governor. Civil Litigation Clinic assists low-income clients who are experiencing housing problems. Cases are referred to the clinic from Community Legal Aid Services, Inc.

The law library is a subscription based library. Subscribers have access to Westlaw, patron computers, document scannning, faxing, Family Law Software (used by the Summit County DR Court), discounted printing, circulation privileges, conference room use, and reference assistance.



Solo Attorney Membership - $180.00

Law Firm Membership - $180.00 for the first person and $90.00 for each person thereafter

Senior Membership (65+) - $50.00

New Attorneys Years Practicing Years 1-4 - Free (must be a member of the Akron Bar Association)

Summit County Employees - Free
