Attorney Referral Service –The bar association will refer members of the public to an attorney familiar with the area of law he or she needs legal assistance. There is a referral fee of $30 that includes a thirty minute consultation with an attorney. Ask An Attorney - Need assistance with a simple legal question, but do not need to hire a lawyer? Our LRIS lawyers can help answer your legal questions!​ To participate in the LRIS Ask an Attorney service, please call 330.253.5038 on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month, from 9 – 11 am EST.

Please Note: Depending on the call volume or the expertise of our volunteers, we may transfer your call to the University of Akron School of Law's Legal Clinic. In these situations, Law School students working with licensed lawyers will answer your questions.

Modest Means Referral Program – The program provides reduced-fee, civil legal assistance to low-income Summit County residents who do not have access to Legal Aid or pro bono services and who cannot afford legal fees at market rates. Clients must first be screened by the Community Legal Aid Services.  The attorney rate is $60.00 per hour and covers domestic (post-decree support, post-decree contempt), consumer, and probate law.

Small Entrepreneur and Economic Development (SEED) Clinic

 

Reentry Clinic - Law students assist low-income clients to help file applications to expunge (seal) their criminal records, obtain Certificates of Qualification for Employment (CQE), and file clemency applications.

 

Ohio Governor’s Expedited Pardon Project - Law students screen potential pardon candidates to ensure that they meet the project’s requirements. The students also assist the project’s clients with preparing a pardon petition to the governor.

 

Civil Litigation Clinic assists low-income clients who are experiencing housing problems. Cases are referred to the clinic from Community Legal Aid Services, Inc.
